Hi! My name is
Reika is a global citizen. She was born in Nepal and grew up in Japan and the USA. She has a master's degree in Sociology from the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, and that is where she first developed her love for Yoga. Since then she has backpacked across South and Central America, and lived and worked in Nicaragua, Hawaii, and other various parts of the world. She first developed her practice of yoga in California, South Africa, and everywhere she went while traveling, living, and working all over the world.
She has experienced various yoga styles and disciplines and also engaged in lengthy meditation trainings such as Vipassana; seeking to harmonize both her mind and body. She has completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training with Yogaworks LA and she is currently completing her second 300-hour training with Annie Carpenter in the SmartFLOW method. She studies Yoga Philosophy regularly with Aimee Echo, an authorized Ashtanga teacher in Long Beach.
Reika not only enjoys teaching advanced level vinyasa flow classes but she loves to teach chair yoga for seniors and stroke survivors. She is an Accessible Yoga Ambassador and Trauma-Informed Yoga teacher and also teaches other modalities, such as Yogalates (Yoga-Pilates fusion) and yoga with weights. Reika is passionate about making yoga practice and teachings practical and accessible to all beings.
Reika receives so much joy by sharing her knowledge and expertise with yoga teachers-in-training and new yoga teachers by teaching Accessible Yoga Training to 200 & 300-hour YTT programs.
Reika runs her own Virtual Yoga Studio but also teaches in-person group/private classes in and around Long Beach. Her passion project is her mentorship program for yoga teachers who would like to deepen their teaching skills and knowledge of yoga.
