Guest Teacher: Allie Gomes
Allison Gomes is a California native who has enjoyed a lifelong relationship with mindful movement. Originally a ballet dancer, she holds a degree in Dance from UC Irvine and had a semi-professional career as a modern dancer with companies throughout Southern California. Allison has taught classical Pilates to everyone from pre/postnatal clients, to clients rehabilitating from an injury, as well as professional dancers and athletes. In 2012 she moved into an Ashram to study the 8 limbs of yoga and began teaching everything from vinyasa to yin to philosophy.
In the last three years, she has made Southeast Asia her home and has taught in Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Laos where she will be joining us from. Her vast experience with myriad movement techniques has given her a cultivated eye for movement as well as an intuitive sense of what the body needs. She will teach a "Slow Burn Vinyasa" class. This class will suit those who like the challenge and physicality of a vinyasa or ashtanga class, but without the emphasis on speed. This class will center a lot on using breath and proper alignment to build stamina and mindfulness.
It will be a slow feel-good class that encourages the students to play with ranges of motions and micro-movements in stretches.
